Summary
The Iraqi air force will have its own fighter aircraft by 2011 or 2012, according to the commander of the U.S. 9th Air Force. While an effective Iraqi military will need such aircraft, various obstacles remain to the fulfillment of this prediction, with Iran the most significant among them.
