Israel: The Eilat Bombing's Local and Regional Implications

Three Palestinian groups claimed responsibility for a Jan. 29 suicide bombing in the southern Israeli city of Eilat that killed three people. The attack likely was meant to break the gridlock in talks between Hamas and Fatah and the associated infighting. Though it was a low-intensity attack, the bombing will provoke an Israeli response, which will complicate matters within the Palestinian territories and the region.
