Israel, Syria: Direct Talks and Hezbollah's Demise

Summary

A Turkish official involved in Israeli-Syrian peace negotiations reportedly has said the time for direct talks between the two countries has arrived. Since Israel will not proceed toward peace unless Syria cracks down on Hezbollah, and Syrian intelligence has the tools to bring Hezbollah to heal, this is no small matter for Hezbollah. One such tool at Damascus' disposal is the reported return of a former high level Hezbollah official.
