Israeli Elections and the Foreign Policy Conundrum

Summary

Israelis will go to the polls March 17, kicking off the arduous process of forming a ruling coalition, but the challenges for the country's leaders will not end there. U.S.-Iranian nuclear negotiations are moving forward, and Israel has been powerless to stop them. Meanwhile, Israel is without a partner to work with in the Palestinian territories at a time when circumstances are bringing Hamas and Iran closer together. 

Regardless of which party comes out on top, Israel's foreign policy will be grounded in the same constraints that have defined Netanyahu's nine years in office....
