Italy: Rome Targets Illegal Immigrants

Recent events and comments from newly appointed Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini suggest that the new Italian government will take a much tougher stance on immigration than did its predecessor. Rome is focusing on illegal immigration and the Roma right now; but if the crackdown on Roma immigrants succeeds, the government will turn its focus to other immigrant groups.
