Ivory Coast: Migration Will Be a Hot Topic at EU-Africa Meeting

The European Union wants to proactively prevent mass migrant arrivals from Africa, while the African Union wants to ensure safe passage for migrants. The two institutions will take advantage of the Fifth African Union-European Union Summit starting Nov. 29 to try to reconcile the issue. The summit is officially titled "Investing in Youth for a Sustainable Future" and apart from migration will include panels on the economy, trade, security and human rights. In larger terms, the meeting is a part of the broader EU strategy to maintain stability in Africa to help alleviate the factors causing Africans to migrate in the first place....
