Kenya: U.S. To Back Moi's Power Play in Return for Security Cooperation

Kenyan President Daniel arap Moi and U.S. President George W. Bush discussed anti-terrorism issues during a meeting in Washington on Dec. 5. Bush likely will agree to look the other way while Moi tries to maintain power behind the scenes in Kenya. In exchange, Washington will receive expanded access to al Qaeda stomping grounds in eastern Africa.
