Rival Nestor Kirchner will be inaugurated May 25. Former Argentine President Carlos Menem's apparent decision to quit the presidential campaign four days before the May 18 run-off election is a desperate bid to rescue his vanishing political career. However, by quitting, Menem actually has accelerated his political extinction. Argentina won't cry for him, ever.
