The Mexican drug-trafficking scene is vast and complex. Each of these routes has the potential to bring millions of dollars in revenue to the organizations that control them, underscoring the importance for each organization to control as much territory as possible. This also shows how the drug-trafficking business is truly a global enterprise with portions of the supply chain extending all the way from South America to Asia to Europe, and how all these routes and links in the supply chain converge and pass through Mexico.
