Mozambique has seen major changes to its geographic balance of economic power over the past decade as an enormous potential for growth has emerged in its long-neglected north and center, where natural gas deposits alone could form the mainstay of the country's economy. This potential has appeared at a time of internal changes in the ruling party and rekindled unrest against the regime, which will force the central government to come to terms with the opposition so the former hinterland's resources can be exploited....
