Like airports, hotels by definition tend to attract those with disposable incomes who are generally unfamiliar with their local environments -- and in some cases, they attract particularly high net worth and/or high-profile persons -- along with a variety of hostile actors trying to get at those persons. Due to the nature of the hospitality business, hotels generally prioritize providing an open and welcoming space to guests and are reluctant to adopt the more restrictive screening and security measures seen at embassies, residential compounds, offices or airports that often serve the same clientele.
