Coalition forces have continued to make progress on the advance to Mosul. So far, around 20 villages and settlements have been wrested from the Islamic State, including Qarah Qosh (also known as Bakhdida), approximately 15 kilometers (9 miles) east of Mosul. Defensively, the Islamic State has been fighting a rearguard action, relying on ambushes and vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices to delay approaching forces....
