Pakistan’s historically contentious balance between civilian and military leadership may be entering a phase of civilian reassertion. On October 11, the country’s Electoral Commission rejected the registration of the recently formed Milli Muslim League (MML) party due to its links to Lashkar-e-Tayyeba (LeT). LeT, a militant organization, is accused of masterminding the 2008 Mumbai attacks that killed 166 people.
