A long-promised deployment of U.S. Patriot missiles is due to arrive in Poland on May 24. The shipment stands to complicate U.S. relations with Russia — which seemed to be on an upswing following recent word (unconfirmed by Moscow) that China and Russia had agreed to a U.S. sanctions regime against Iran. Moscow has been fiercely opposed to the Patriot deployment plan, which would station U.S. military personnel and missiles only 25 miles from Kaliningrad, a Russian exclave touching the Baltic Sea.
