Philippines: Coming to Terms with the MILF

Official peace negotiations between the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) will resume the first week in May in Malaysia. Assuming Manila does not reinstitute emergency rule given the anti-government protests scheduled for May 1, the talks should go fairly smoothly, setting the groundwork for a sustainable arrangement between the MILF and the government.
