Summary

Lithuania will hold parliamentary elections Oct. 14. Regardless of the outcome, the trajectory of the country's energy diversification efforts will continue, as will Vilnius' contentious approach to relations with Moscow. However, the installation of a new government could complicate Lithuania's position within the European Union — especially its tentative plans to adopt the euro in 2014 and, more immediately, its relationship with the eurozone.

A change in government could alter the country's position in Europe but not its policies concerning Russia or energy....
