Russia: Gazprom Closes in on Sakhalin-2

Summary
The Sakhalin-2 energy project is living its final days under foreign control, and the Russian state-controlled energy giant Gazprom is poised to get a majority stake. Following pressure from the Russian authorities, the project's main operator, Royal Dutch/Shell, will soon strike a deal with Gazprom that will be at best detrimental to the foreign partners and at worst will completely shut down the giant project.
