Russia: Interest in the French Mistral

In discussions with STRATFOR, Russian defense experts have indicated that Russia remains very interested in acquiring a French-designed and -built helicopter carrier modeled on the Mistral (L 9013), currently in service with the French fleet. Such a deal would set a precedent and have considerable ramifications — potentially for both the Russian navy and the country's shipbuilding industry.
