Russia, North Korea, South Korea: Hurdles to a Strategic Rail Project

South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and Russian President Dmitri Medvedev spoke May 20 about moving forward with a plan to rebuild a strategic rail line in North Korea’s northeast. The two Koreas and Russia each want the project to go forward, but first they must overcome the obstacles posed by the Korean security situation and Russia’s infrastructure.
