Summary
A brotherly feud between two Saudi princes is a result of the king’s move to transform Saudi Arabia into a more liberal society, complete with women’s rights, freedom of political expression and cinema houses. The effort has created a backlash from the Saudi religious establishment as well as from hard-line political conservatives who strongly back the strict enforcement of Shariah law. It all means that the king’s transformation will not be an easy one.
