Serbia: Kostunica's Power Play in Parliament

With help from Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica's Democratic Party of Serbia, a member of the country's Radical Party — Tomislav Nikolic — was elected speaker of parliament. Nikolic is the first Radical to gain a senior position since the late Slobodan Milosevic was ousted in 2000. Kostunica's change of heart regarding the Radicals shows just how much power he wields right now — an important point for the prime minister to make during negotiations to form a government with the president's Democratic Serbia party.
