The Kremlin created a youth organization called Nashi — "Ours," in Russian — in 2005. Since its inception, Nashi has incorporated other youth groups and founded new groups with the goal of training their members to respect the primacy of the Kremlin, and it has evolved into a useful foreign policy tool for Moscow. The Russian state's focus is to use the youth programs to train the next generation to take leadership roles in government, business and civil society at a time when Moscow is launching a series of massive economic projects aimed at modernization and privatization. Today's graphic of the day shows a list of social programs to be undertaken by Nashi and another Russian youth group, the Young Guard.
