Summary
Representatives from Somalia's two largest jihadist groups, Hizbul Islam and al Shabaab, issued a statement Oct. 7 calling for the end to nearly a week's fighting over the southern Somali port of Kismayo. The groups fought after a disagreement over a control-sharing arrangement. The deal might bring calm between the two groups, but it does not mean an end to problems for jihadists in Somalia.
