Syria: A Former Vice President's Passionate 'Defection'

Former Syrian Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam has triggered a political storm in Damascus after publicly announcing his intent to topple the regime of Syrian President Bashar al Assad. Though Khaddam might be attempting to cast himself as a viable opposition candidate, his apparent defection will not succeed in breaking al Assad's regime.
