Tropical Storm Alex, the first weather system of hurricane season to become strong enough to merit a name from the National Hurricane Center, has pushed through the Yucatan Peninsula. The center of the storm has now entered the Gulf of Mexico. There is a good chance Alex will develop into the first hurricane of the season. Luckily, however, none of the most recent computer models project the storm's path will intersect with the Deepwater Horizon oil leak — something that would certainly set back the cleanup efforts under way.
