Summary

Turkmenistan is emerging from decades of isolation and idiosyncrasy. Given the country's vast natural gas resources and strategic location, investors in Europe and Asia are keen to secure access to the country's energy sector. The next step for Ashgabat will be to develop a legal structure allowing that to happen, and to make a geopolitical choice about who will benefit.
