U.K., Germany: The Coming Week Could Unblock 2 European Negotiations

For months now, Europe has been mired in two complex negotiations that will shape the future of the European Union: the Brexit talks and Germany's attempts to form a coalition government. And though progress has been slow going, things could finally progress next week. On Dec. 4, British Prime Minister Theresa May will meet with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker to discuss the status of negotiations between the United Kingdom and the union, just two days before the commission announces whether it believes "sufficient progress" has been made. Then on Dec. 7, Germany's center-left Social Democratic Party (SPD) will hold a party meeting to decide whether to reverse its position and agree to form a coalition government with German Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives....
