Sep 10, 2006 | 23:45 GMT
Summary
A 6.0 magnitude earthquake in the Gulf of Mexico sent shockwaves from Louisiana to Florida on Sept. 10, but was not powerful enough to trigger a tsunami. The quake also did not strike near oil and gas producing areas. That said, some disruption in petroleum supplies should be expected as operators shut down some facilties in order to ensure no significant damage occurred.
