The online newsletter Inside the Navy reported July 14 that the U.S. Navy's senior leadership may cut the current production run of the DDG-1000 Zumwalt guided-missile destroyer to two hulls instead of a planned seven. It would be a meaningful step toward reshaping the Navy's current — and probably unviable — 30-year shipbuilding plan.
