Summary
The fourth Virginia-class attack submarine, pre-commissioning unit North Carolina, was delivered to the U.S. Navy on Feb. 21. The North Carolina is the last of the Block I configuration; the New Hampshire will be the first Block II configuration, which incorporates several cost-saving measures. The progress of the Block II boats will be a benchmark for U.S. shipbuilding.
