Summary
The United States is set to release 30 million barrels of oil from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve, with the rest of the developed world to match that amount. This is the largest release in U.S. history, and the first time it has been done in response to price increases. The politics and the economics leading to the release are questionable, rendering the reasons for the decision unclear.
