Summary
The Venezuelan military seized more than 30 large sugar farms on orders of President Hugo Chavez on April 11. The seizures come after the nationalization of three cement firms and a steel plant. Chavez now is nationalizing companies for political aims in a bid to appear to be addressing larger economic issues. Continued similar nationalizations are likely.
