Violence Continues in India's Northeast

Fearing revenge attacks, more than 15,000 laborers from Assam are fleeing Bangalore and other southern Indian cities to return to the northeast, Indian media reported Aug. 16. While southern states struggle to keep low-income laborers from returning home, Islamist and Hindu nationalist groups will look to exploit this uptick in communal tensions spreading across India.
