Zimbabwe's Longtime President Runs Again

The Zimbabwean government announced March 21 that a presidential election will be held June 29. The announcement provides clarity and sets the stage for the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front to intimidate its way to a re-election victory. Once this has been accomplished, the party will focus on the transition from longtime President Robert Mugabe, now 89-years-old, to a new leader.
