1 MIN READSep 18, 2014 | 15:36 GMT

The Algerian army has engaged with 15 militants along the border with Tunisia, Echorouk Online reported Sept. 18. The militants are reportedly members of a group calling itself "Soldiers of the Caliphate in the Land of Algeria," which recently broke with al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and pledged its allegiance to the Islamic State. After Algeria informed Tunisia of the fighting, the Tunisian military dispatched air force and ground units to the border.
