Brazil, Colombia: Security Increased At Venezuelan Borders To Counter Migrant Flow

Brazil and Colombia have tightened security at their borders with Venezuela to counter the growing flow of migrants fleeing the deteriorating country, Reuters reported Feb. 8. Speaking from their respective border regions, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and Brazilian Defense Minister Raul Jungmann both said that there would be increased security personnel or troops at the borders. Both countries have said they would be tracking the number of migrants entering their countries — Colombia through a registry and Brazil with a census.
