Bulgaria: Westinghouse Set To Purchase Stake In Energy Firm

Westinghouse Electric Co. is set to purchase a stake in a Bulgarian state-controlled firm building new atomic energy units, Reuters reported July 6. Bulgaria is one of five EU states that depend completely on Russia for nuclear fuel. After the deal, Bulgaria will be ready to start negotiations for the financing and construction of a Westinghouse AP-1000 nuclear reactor, estimated to cost some $5 billion.
