China: Japanese-Owned Firms Resume Operations

Japanese firms operating in China resumed business Sept. 19 as anti-Japan protests slowed, Kyodo reported. Automakers, including Nissan Motor Co., Mazda Motor Corp. and Suzuki Motor Corp., resumed operations, while convenience store operator Lawson Inc. reopened all of its stores. Protests had turned violent over the weekend as Japanese-made cars were overturned and smashed and Japanese restaurants and shops were attacked.
