China: Major Cities Impose Lockdowns After Beijing Reports COVID-Related Deaths

Beijing’s most populous district of Chaoyang has been placed under lockdown after the capital city recorded China’s first COVID-related deaths in nearly six months, Reuters reported Nov. 21. In response to rising COVID-19 cases, Chinese authorities have also imposed lockdowns in Guangzhou’s northern Baiyun district (which is home to roughly 3.7 million people) and effectively the entire city of Shijiazhuang (home to about 11 million people) from Nov. 21-25.  ...
