Cuba, U.S.: Partial Rollback Of Obama Policy Likely, Could Include Travel Restrictions

1 MIN READJun 10, 2017 | 20:40 GMT

U.S. President Donald Trump's new Cuba policy to be announced June 16 in Miami will likely involve a partial rollback of the Obama administration opening to the island, such as renewed restrictions on U.S. citizens traveling to Cuba and a ban on U.S. companies doing business with Cuban entities linked to the Cuban military, Reuters reported June 10, citing unnamed sources. To leave Obama's outreach initiatives in place, Trump would have to either be too preoccupied with other foreign policy matters to consider Cuba or acquiesce to Havana's demands for closer economic ties with no strings attached — an unlikely outcome.
