Iran has recalled its ambassador to Cyprus for consultations, Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides said May 9, Reuters reported. The move was in response to the recent extradition of an Iranian national on the island to the United States on suspicion of violating U.N. arms sanctions, Kasoulides said. An unnamed diplomatic source in Nicosia said the Iranian was extradited after Cypriot authorities tried all domestic legal remedies. Iran represents a persistent threat to various targets across the globe.
