EU: Bloc To Condemn Turkey Over Cyprus Natural Gas Blockade

1 MIN READMar 22, 2018 | 16:30 GMT

European Union leaders will condemn Turkey's actions in preventing natural gas exploration off Cyprus and will call on Ankara to respect the country's sovereign rights, ABC News reported March 22. The condemnation is set to come ahead of a meeting scheduled for March 26 between top EU officials and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erodgan. On Feb. 11, Ankara violated international law when Turkish warships blocked an Italian ENI drilling ship from exploring in Block 3 of Cyprus' exclusive economic zone. The European Union has urged Turkey to normalize its relations with Cyprus, which has been divided since 1974.
