Hong Kong, U.S.: Committee Approves Democracy Bill, Angering China

The U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee and Senate Committee on Foreign Relations approved the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act on Sept. 25, bringing the motion closer to becoming law, the South China Morning Post reported Sept. 26. Unsurprisingly, the move displeased Beijing, with a high-level Chinese diplomat in Hong Kong describing the bill as "the epitome of hegemony."...
