Iran: Adrian Darya Supertanker Changes Destination Listing to Turkey

What Happened: The Iranian supertanker Adrian Darya, formerly known as the Grace 1, has changed its destination listing to Mersin, Turkey, The Maritime Executive reported Aug. 23.

Why It Matters: The tanker previously signaled Greece as its destination and the United States has already told countries in the Mediterranean region that any nation assisting the vessel could be subject to U.S. sanctions.

Background: British Royal Marines seized the Adrian Darya on July 4, accusing it of attempting to violate EU sanctions on Syria. Authorities in Gibraltar released the tanker last week and the vessel is now looking for a port to refuel.
