Libya: British Special Operations Forces Target Islamic State Car Bomb

British special operations forces in Libya reportedly targeted an alleged Islamic State car bomb heading toward Misrata earlier in May, hitting the vehicle with a missile while it sped toward a bridge, a Libyan commander said, The Guardian reported May 25. A spokesman for the British Defense Ministry refused to comment on the episode. The incident, if true, shows that British special operations forces, ostensibly in Libya to help train local security forces, are taking part in combat against the Islamic State.
