Mali: Attacks Kill 4, Including Chinese Peacekeeper

Two separate attacks killed a Chinese U.N. peacekeeper and three members of a U.N. demining team in the northern Malian city of Gao, China's Foreign Ministry and the United Nations said, BBC reported June 1. Militants from al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb have reportedly claimed responsibility for the attacks. Jihadists and Tuareg militants attack Malian and foreign military and diplomatic personnel in northern Mali intermittently.
