What Happened: The United Kingdom issued a warning June 13 to citizens traveling to several districts in Mozambique's Cabo Delgado province following a string of terrorist attacks in the area, ENCA reported. The U.S. oil and natural gas company Anadarko also started evacuating staff from the area.
Why It Matters: The United Kingdom follows the United States in issuing a travel warning after at least 17 people were killed in Palma since May.
Background: The militant group Ahlu Sunnah Wa-Hamo, known locally as al Shabaab, has conducted several attacks in Cabo Delgado. Since October, around 30 people have been killed and some 200 houses have been burnt down.
