Russia: Twitter To Store User Data In Moscow

Russia's media watchdog, Roskomnadzor, said Twitter agreed to comply with state regulations and store Russian nationals' personal data on domestic servers to avoid potentially being banned, Yahoo News reported Nov. 8. The move is set to take place by mid-2018. In 2014, Russia passed a law requiring foreign messaging services, search engines and social networking sites to store Russian users' personal data domestically, sparking concerns that the information could be accessed by Russian intelligence services
