Turkey: Iraqi Official To Discuss Sinjar Region With Turkish Intelligence Chief

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that an Iraqi official would be in Turkey March 26 to meet with the head of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization, Hakan Fidan, Anadolu Agency reported. The meeting will cover developments in the Sinjar region of Iraq, where Kurdistan Workers' Party militants are reportedly withdrawing and Iraqi troops have been deployed. Turkey fears the growing threat of Kurdish militant groups near its borders, and continues, with efforts such as Operation Olive Branch, to combat the threat in neighboring Syria.
