U.K.: North Korea Behind National Health Service Cyberattack

According to British Security Minister Ben Wallace, the United Kingdom believes that North Korea was behind the global bitcoin ransom payment scheme using the malware WannaCry that targeted the British National Health Service's computer system in May, The New York Times reported Oct. 27. The WannaCry attack was the largest cyberattack ever to hit the National Health Service and spread to some 150 countries. The attack affected almost 19,000 patient appointments and caused some 6,900 appointments to be canceled.
